POEM: HIV is killing WE

HIV is killing WE
Come, my people, can’t you see
Think about how your life will be
If you are diagnosed with HIV
We’re singing to tell you to be wise
We’re asking for you to condomise
We’re praying that you’ll be abstinent
Please be faithful to your partner for good intent
HIV/AIDS affects both young and old
Just listen to some sad stories told
Of a pregnant woman plush and lovely
And then a baby born with HIV
My people, it’s time for you to listen
Protection and self control is what I’m wishing
Please don’t disregard my simple words
HIV is far too rampant in this world

Short Words for 11-30-2011

Raising children is not easy. It takes time and patience. I try but some days I get frustrated and yell at them. My children are nice and full of manners. They are each bright in their own way and are full of energy. I love them and would like to see the best for them. However, I know that while I can impart the knowledge that I have, it is still up to them to implement it.

Getting to Know Me

I know who I am and what I like. Many people struggle with knowing themselves and until they can truly become one with themselves, they won't know where to go. It hurts me to hear that young women are increasingly becoming involved in illegal drugs. That is truly hard to swallow.

I know that life is stressful right now and people barely want to help. I still feel that there are other ways to survive. There's a commercial for Allstate where the announcer mentions that someone is on a 'Ramen Noodle' diet. Three Ramen noodles are $1.05 in the BVI. If you can afford one can of vienna sausage that's still $0.90 or sardine or tuna fish, you can mix it up. Add one carrot, one tomato or some beets and it's even more colorful. We have to find ways to survive.

I think these problems go very deep. Drug abuse may stem from depression which could be caused by a host of issues. We have some way to seek help without turning to the bottle or the pill or the pipe. This is harder when there are children involved. People are getting more desperate and make life more uncomfortable for many of us. I see young men begging for $1.00 and this sickens me. However, I do not know the circumstance. It could be an untreated mental issue or an adverse reaction to a legal or illegal drug.

There's a lot of work for the leaders and community workers. However, we as a community have to teach our children right from wrong and instill solid values in them. If we do not intercede now for the little ones then there will be much more begging and getting high in the future.

POEM: As It Comes

piece of me
is broken
but the other half is good
although I may be soft-spoken
I may just be in a bad mood
while I stand with eyes open
my mind is closed to the world
I'm never the master's token
cause I will fight for the boys and girls
I may not be much in sight
but never underestimade a fighter
I have a vision to shin a light
that makes everyone's days brighter

POEM: Your Words

I'm posting
but not because I'm boasting
or enjoy roasting
but cause I've got mad love to share
to the world I care for
I want to inspire and uplift
find ways to solve rifts
cause that's what words are for
to lift, encourage or implore
so use yours today
to share something positive in what you say

Resting, Rising and Good Music...

Some people don't like to rise in the morning and some don't like to go to sleep. I think I am a mixture. I work well in the subconscious if I have a trip to take - I'll be sure to rise early then. Otherwise, I don't want to rise. I stay up some nights. Like tonight, I'll be up ironing.

I also have an article that I want to complete and I think it's time that I do it. I don't have deadlines and work on my own schedule with writing so I'm free to produce when I want. My full time job requires that I'm there as much as possible between the allotted hours and I try my best.

My kids don't like to go to sleep unless they are tired but somehow they rise early most days to ask where's breakfast.

As for tonight I have my least favorite chore to complete which is ironing. If I am in the mood, I may finish the article.

My playlist to get me in the ironing mood has been:
"Wake Up Everybody" by Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes
"Do You Love What You Feel" by Chaka Khan & Rufus
"I Love Music" by The O'Jays
"Love Train" by The O'Jays
"For the Love of You" by Isley Brothers

I will take rest when it beckons and bid yo a good rest.

Not another joke or joker

I like to live on the lighter side. I enjoy a good joke or a good comedy. I don't think I'm funny but I think I could crack a good joke at least one a year. I would never try to be a comedian because my memory stinks and I know I would start to laugh before I share the punchline.

I could see me up there, "Your're so stupid.....hahahahahah, whew, hahahahahaha......you were asked how much is 2x2......o lord, hahahahaha, and you said (with tears rolling down the eyes) ......2!" I'm surely comedian. People would just laugh at my laughter.

I think it's important to smile and laugh. Some days are very dark and challenges can be daunting but try to find something to smile about. It may be a nice memory or you may need to pull a joke from the internet to get that smile release.

I for sure laugh everyday at something. I try not to laugh at 'somebody' but rather at 'something' they did. I know people laugh at me cause I'm a thrift store shopper or I rock my natural hair but I don't care. At least, I'm not a bother to them. I am smiling and moving forward with my life. So....take a "hahahaha....whew this one sweet...hehehehhe......hahahahah....." today!
