Poem: Guardian of My Galaxy

Guardians of the Galaxy

I may not be "Brandy",
but I think I am a fine girl
and despite what you think,
"Ain't no mountain high enough"
that can keep me from reaching my goals
because I've got music and I've got soul
So even though I don't say
"Come and get your love" often
that doesn't mean I don't want to "Escape"
and drink some "Pina Colada"
We have to live in this moment so
"Come a little bit closer"
because I'm happiest when I see
the bright "Mr. Blue Sky"
because the "Spirit in the Sky"
has me "Hooked on a Feeling"
It's not like "I'm not in love"
it's just that
"I fooled around and fell in love"
and "Ooh Child",
"Bring it on home to me"
So don't change your mind
and don't leave me behind
because you are the Guardian of my Galaxy

Blogging from the Phone

I'm not a fan of blogging from my phone. However, this is my best option to share my thoughts since Hurricane Irma. I installed the blogger app but didn't use it much; but it does come in handy now.

I've been blogging for quite some time and I do enjoy it. It's a great opportunity to express feelings and concerns. It has also helped me to improve and hone my writing. Your writing is critical for you to move forward in life. If you are applying for a job, the first impression is made through your résumé. If your work is administrative in nature, you spend a lot of time writing.

I find that the autocorrect on the phone can be a little offset so I'm still trying to reread to ensure that there are no crazy typos. While I know that no one is perfect, I always have to strive for excellence.

Poem: Sides

poem

In these times
I struggle and worry
But in this grime
I can't hang on just being sorry
Possibilities
Are now my focus
Cause these games
Are just hocus pocus
Reality
Has long set in
And truthfully
I'm in it to win
My ideas
Are what I believe
So it's not fair
For you to disgrace me
My mission
Is to stay moving forward
And my decisions
Are not those of a coward
Don't hate
What you don't understand
Don't deflate
What you can't hold in your hand
Your lane
Is where you should ride
Cause it's insane
If you don't drive on your side

Peeling the Onion - the Need to Smile, the Weirdness and Life

I know what I like and I'm guessing that you know what you like. I love to laugh - I'm sorry but I enjoy a good joke. Now, my sense of humor may be a little off but I don't think that it's crass or derogatory. I love comedy and I just enjoy laughing. As you think about the movie, Shrek, Shrek said that "Ogres are like onions" and I guess everyone is that way. We all have our ways and layers.

Image result for smiling emojiI think that I have bought into the "laughter helping you age better" trend of thought. Hey, I sometimes consider myself a "Conspiracy Theorist" so I'm technically like the "weird relative". You may wonder why all the quotation marks and you may even consider the words and phrases as cliches. Unfortunately or fortunately, I am the "odd man out". The good thing is that I am cool with that. Life is about loving yourself - not gloating or boasting about your bad ways - but accepting the intricate little parts that make you - YOU! In turn, we work on our bad ways so that others can not only tolerate us - but accept us.

I am the introvert and the extrovert. I love helping people and I am a lover of a "win-win" situation. I want to see people thrive. Yes - call me the "hopeful optimist" and yes I do believe that we all have our good ways that can outweigh our issues. I'm not claiming to be perfect or even pretending to be - I just want to be me. I'm going to get mad and I will show it - sorry, I can't hide emotion. However, I can bounce back - I'll try to!

After facing a Category 5 hurricane which ripped into my house and throughout the territory, I am thankful for the ability to smile and to witness the greatness of God's love. I love the little things - the butterflies although I despise their metamorphosis - as the caterpillars eat my pumpkin and tomato leaves. However, I understand the importance of pollination; so yes I fuss, but nature has to go through its cycle.

So as I go through my life cycle as God grants me time, I remain thankful for my blessings and I will keep smiling...and laughing too because I do love a good joke!

POEM: What I've Faced

I've been pinched
pricked and pummeled
but I feel great
With the kicks, knocks
Roadand knuckles
I still stand strong
I've returned fire
fists and frustration
but I'm still ready
still waiting
still debating
and concentrating on
my next move
cause I can't cease
stop nor halt
until my destination
is right ahead

Who is the Writer behind the Blog 'Words of Ribbon'

I keep it sweet and I keep it real. I am all about improvement and moving forward. I am also about music and simple living. I am an open book that has no Table of Contents. One page may have a picture and the other poem, while the other has a short essay. I down to earth yet complicated and I have no issue in telling you that.

I like crossword puzzles and Sudoku as much as I enjoy burying my feet in the sand at the beach. I love my children but I hate when they don't listen to me. Some days, I just can't wait for their bed time so I can just chill.

I like my job and throughout my life I have been able to tolerate most supervisors. What I don't like is micro-management because I think supervisors should trust the people they hire. I have been thrown under the bus and try to not to throw others. However, sometimes, a point needs to be made.

I keep a few friends - people who give me inspiration and who I enjoy taking to. They are awesome people who keep me on my toes and I hope I can motivate and encourage them to. I love my family and want the best for them always.

I am 'ribbon' and I love sharing these thoughts with you. I can only hope that you are truly inspired.
