PRAYER for August 20, 2012

Heavenly Father,

Breathe in me love, faith, patience and kindness. Let me a shining light and a vessel filled with love. Lord, let me not be a hindrance to anyone. Instead may I be strong in your faith and energized to serve you better. Help us to help each other Lord so that we can use the givens you have given us to proclaim your goodness.

In your name I pray.

old school reggae makes me feel good
sets me in a good mood
makes me smile
for a good while
as I reminisce
on the good times
that old school feel
is enlightening

POEM: Float Like Butterfly

I'm looking for the right spot
to keep food in my pot
cause I know I've got
a lot
to do
and whether or not
you agree
I'm being the best me
and I'll be
heading up the road
not like a toad
but like a butterfly
lovely, charming
and catching your eye
and that's what
I wish you would
aim for
cause there are doors
that are opened for all
but we can not stall
and stay in limbo
take the opportunity as it's thrown
and break your coccoon
and become
a butterfly

Thoughts after Isaac & Zeek

I have been sharing poems for a few days and since Tropical Storm Isaac has sort of passed, I can write a paragraph or two. There is a lot going on around us and one of the major things that happened was the crash of Zeek Rewards. I never trusted it.

The safer ways to make money online is through writing and advertising for companies. I enjoy the writing and the pay eventually grows. I am able to learn a lot of new things as well. Writing works for me but I don't know if it can work for many. Most people want to get rich overnight. I am a slow and steady kind of girl. I just want to be satisfied and pay my bills on time.

To my readers, please pay attention to the many warnings - if it is too good to be true, it most likely IS! Live within your means and save what you can.

Beware
Be care...ful
but not full
of yourself
cause the self
is one a part
of the whole
and we
have to be wise
not sly
not shy
not a spy
but alive -
a life
that can inspire
a fire
in some
heart

My piece is my peace
which never ceases
but instead releases
my love
my heart
and my soul
because as I go for the gold
I will stand strong and bold
and while I was told
that I was not good enough
I am tough
and I've made it through the rough
spots that came
that tried to out my flame
but in this game
I never stop
I never doubt
because I am on a route
that will take me far
and despite the scars
I'm gonna rise above the bar
and reach the pinnacle
so don't be cynical
cause this woman's peace
will never cease
and I will
persevere

I try to be real, not fake
and I sometimes try to bake
cookies, not cake
but I can take
a walk by a lake
but for goodness sake
don't step on a rake
and don't run by the snake
because you'll turn into a flake
and start to shake
like a drum that quakes
You don't dare call me Jake
and don't try to wake
my spirit's insanity
cause vanity 
is not in my vocabulary
and bigotry
was deleted from my dictionary
so as I play with these words
I hope I struck a nerve
or made you smile
even just for a while
cause this style
is mine
and it's surely not fake
or a flake
it's just me
in my abstract poetry
