The Little Things

Sometimes you never want to miss a moment to jump. Today was an off day where nothing seemed to go as planned but it worked itself out. Key people weren't able to help as planned. Utensils were missing from food. To top it off, a bird pooped on my hair.

However, it all worked itself out perfectly. The sequence of events all followed the way they were supposed to and for that I give God thanks. Challenges are  always there to strengthen us. I know it's been a rough week for many but we'll make it.

Sometimes little things get us frustrated but like the adjective used, the things are just "little". It makes no sense to get a heart attack over things that you can fix immediately. Find a back-up plan and move forward. Even if you don't have a contingency in place, think on your feet and do what you have to.

Out Sick

I'm not usually a sickly person. However, when that scratchy throat starts, I know it's time to take a break and rest. I have had to battle with tonsils and the loss of my voice. I really no longer want to go down that road and must resort to applying for a sick day.

I find that when I'm sick, the air conditioning makes it worse. Then you never know when you are really contagious...going in the office and touching things...making everyone else sick. I want to be the best employee but going to the office with a cold does not really help. I'm hoping that the cold would subside so that I can head back in tomorrow.

I have lots to do but of course, health comes first. I do not have medication - just using natural remedies of lemon grass, ginger and garlic and so far the symptoms are subsiding. I can still feel a little tickle in my throat but I'm hoping that tomorrow I can be bright and fresh for work. I've got lots to do and want to get them done in a timely manner.

Being sick is a natural thing - everyone goes through it. The key thing is to launch an attack on the illness from early with whatever remedy you choose.

Be good, be vigilant and take care of yourself!

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for another beautiful day where we can stand together as your people praising your name. Dear God, you have been bountiful with your blessings upon us - our food, shelter, our families - and for these things we are truly grateful. Help us to stayed renewed in your faith and let us grow more in your care. Help us to be kind to each other and be understanding of each other's talents as well as faults. Build and bind in us in the spirit of unity, Lord so that we can further your work. Help us in your name I pray.

Speaking My Truth

I watched Matt Cutts on Ted.com this morning and I remembered when I got serious about my blog. I projected and said that I would write in my blog daily. I did and then I've cut it down to every other day depending on what's going on.

I guess I have always been someone who would go with the flow so I set an aim and go for it. My boss can tell you - if I plan an event, I write a report immediately. It's really just my style. I think that things should be done professionally and in a timely manner.

I can't deal with dragging foot people - they kill my spirit. Lazy people drive me nuts. If this was a script for an interview, I think I would say I want to work in an organization where people value quality, are not about lip service and who push to get better every time.

I'll go back to my first paragraph to say that I will cut back on the chocolate/cake for the next 30 days. It will also save me money. For the next 30 days, I'll eat chocolate/cake once every 7 days. I have to do baby steps. Cold turkey on that would be a little tough especially when it's that time of the month.

We all can improve ourselves. I think unfortunately most people are just stuck and I don't want to be stuck. I want to continue to grow. I am looking for forward movement. I will accept what God sends my way. I can not afford to be the norm - I have to stand up, stand out and be progressive.

Speaking my truth.

Don't Let Fear Hold You Back

Fear is something that is all around us. I am afraid of many things just like everyone else. When it comes to my writing and professional expperience, I have a level of confidence. When I entered the SOL recipe competition and my recipe was short listed, I was afraid of critique and judging. I got over it and had fun. I was also able to gather more information that can help me on my job.

Fear can hold you back. When it comes to taking steps to improve myself, I may be a bit more bold than some around. I wanted a home and I have it. I wanted to switch jobs because I wanted to get more into my field and I did. I am looking at other opportunities and I just move forward. I know that some things will not come my way but at least I try.

I have negatives about me but I push forward and take initiative. Even with this blog, this is my soul poured out to the world. I sometimes have to think twice about what I post but I try to keep it to general subjects. My aim is to inspire people. There is so much that we can do for ourselves but we let fear get in the way. I tell my son that I have to push him to succeed today before someone pushes him around in the future. I show my children that it is hard but we have to launch ourselves foward. Take part in activities and see how far you can go. Try something new.

Fear - don't let it hold you back. Take courage and see how far you can go.

Changing the Negatives

Change
We have a lot in common with each other, especially the negative. We spend a lot of time hating one another and causing confusion. We whisper behind each other's backs and we make time to set traps or make simple issues into big problems. If all that negative energy was used for good, we could really make big things happen.

We all really need to rise above and move forward from the petty nonsense. It gets us nowhere and in most cases, we look like total idiots. We can only hope for one positive example to set a tone of positivity that others will follow.

It starts with me. I can't wait for someone else to make a move. It's the same thing with you because while you are waiting for me, I may be getting worse not better. We have to be courageous and confident. In a lot of cases, we want to do right and need to do right but we are reluctant.

Of course, you have to consider your approach. I have already realized that on jobs or in churches, people get very intimidated quickly. We are thin-skinned and do not like change. However, change is necessary for progress to happen. It's just that we want to see good results from everything we do.

My back is wide but I do get upset but I do what needs to be done. Let's start this week positively and make strides that will improve our lives and the lives of those around us.
