Ten Tips I Am Sharing About Life

I like the simple things in life. I enjoy sharing in my blog and writing poetry. However, I dislike blogging from my phone. I wrote this entire blog post already … but had an error message.

I do not profess to have the answers or solutions to anything but I like to share information with others. I have learned a lot by reading tips and informational articles about life. I think these ten tips may be helpful to you.

1. Be nice
Be you but be nice. You do not have to smile with everyone but you should be courteous. Being pleasant makes you more approachable and helps you to make a good first impression.

2. Manage your money
Do not let your money manage your life; instead make wise financial decisions. Save for hard times or a rainy day and insure your property.

3. Be spiritual
Whether you are religious or not, find time to meditate. If you are religious, then pray and congregate with like minds.

4. Watch your friends
In the VI, the old folks used to say that “not every skin teeth is a laugh” meaning that not everyone who smiles with you is your friend. If you notice a trust issue among friends, address it and/or move on. Do not keep anyone in your circle who will bring you down.

5. Relax
We all need to relax. This does not mean that you should laze around and be unproductive. However, stress can kill you so you have to take time to chill and rest.

6. Be silly sometimes
Find what is fun for you and enjoy it. If it is fun, then there should be no stress involved!

7. Continuously learn
Learning does not only mean a classroom. Use the resources available such as elders, short courses and online resources. Grammarly is a good resource and you can learn about anything on YouTube. The internet is a great resource; just use it wisely.

8. Dream
Consider yourself in what you see as your realistic ideal. Start with how you can get there and make a plan to make it happen. Be mindful of the key word: realistic.

9. Seek advice when needed
You do not need someone to tell you how to make every move. However, sometimes you need to seek counsel when making tough decisions. Be careful who you ask because you do not want your information to be shared with others.

10. Love you
You will never succeed trying to be like everyone else. Love yourself – if you do not then who will? I am not saying to be egotistical, but you have to first love yourself before you can love others.

I hope that you enjoyed and can use one or two of these tips.

Use that imagination to do extraordinary things!

Your imagination is your greatest tool. Dream, experiment and have fun with anything that you put your hands to. Too many times we hold ourselves back by worrying about others. I remember our Autism Awareness Day 2018. I was the only person in my office in my pretty socks and one of a few in the building with my socks. However, the bigger picture is showing love for that cause.
It's the same with pursuing your dreams. Be different and don't be afraid to stand out. Harness that imagination and be extraordinary. Use your talents and have fun. Explore what you have always loved and develop that dream.

Use that imagination to do extraordinary things!

Blogging from the Phone

I'm not a fan of blogging from my phone. However, this is my best option to share my thoughts since Hurricane Irma. I installed the blogger app but didn't use it much; but it does come in handy now.

I've been blogging for quite some time and I do enjoy it. It's a great opportunity to express feelings and concerns. It has also helped me to improve and hone my writing. Your writing is critical for you to move forward in life. If you are applying for a job, the first impression is made through your résumé. If your work is administrative in nature, you spend a lot of time writing.

I find that the autocorrect on the phone can be a little offset so I'm still trying to reread to ensure that there are no crazy typos. While I know that no one is perfect, I always have to strive for excellence.

Poem: Sides

poem

In these times
I struggle and worry
But in this grime
I can't hang on just being sorry
Possibilities
Are now my focus
Cause these games
Are just hocus pocus
Reality
Has long set in
And truthfully
I'm in it to win
My ideas
Are what I believe
So it's not fair
For you to disgrace me
My mission
Is to stay moving forward
And my decisions
Are not those of a coward
Don't hate
What you don't understand
Don't deflate
What you can't hold in your hand
Your lane
Is where you should ride
Cause it's insane
If you don't drive on your side

Peeling the Onion - the Need to Smile, the Weirdness and Life

I know what I like and I'm guessing that you know what you like. I love to laugh - I'm sorry but I enjoy a good joke. Now, my sense of humor may be a little off but I don't think that it's crass or derogatory. I love comedy and I just enjoy laughing. As you think about the movie, Shrek, Shrek said that "Ogres are like onions" and I guess everyone is that way. We all have our ways and layers.

Image result for smiling emojiI think that I have bought into the "laughter helping you age better" trend of thought. Hey, I sometimes consider myself a "Conspiracy Theorist" so I'm technically like the "weird relative". You may wonder why all the quotation marks and you may even consider the words and phrases as cliches. Unfortunately or fortunately, I am the "odd man out". The good thing is that I am cool with that. Life is about loving yourself - not gloating or boasting about your bad ways - but accepting the intricate little parts that make you - YOU! In turn, we work on our bad ways so that others can not only tolerate us - but accept us.

I am the introvert and the extrovert. I love helping people and I am a lover of a "win-win" situation. I want to see people thrive. Yes - call me the "hopeful optimist" and yes I do believe that we all have our good ways that can outweigh our issues. I'm not claiming to be perfect or even pretending to be - I just want to be me. I'm going to get mad and I will show it - sorry, I can't hide emotion. However, I can bounce back - I'll try to!

After facing a Category 5 hurricane which ripped into my house and throughout the territory, I am thankful for the ability to smile and to witness the greatness of God's love. I love the little things - the butterflies although I despise their metamorphosis - as the caterpillars eat my pumpkin and tomato leaves. However, I understand the importance of pollination; so yes I fuss, but nature has to go through its cycle.

So as I go through my life cycle as God grants me time, I remain thankful for my blessings and I will keep smiling...and laughing too because I do love a good joke!

First Blog Post after Irma and for 2018

This is my first blog post since Hurricane Irma. I published a series of Irma Chronicles on Facebook to provoke thought and bring light moments to my friends. I missed blogging and there is so much to say and share.

However, I want to focus today on just enjoying the simple things. Today was a weird day and I saw happy and sad faces. The voices also reflected the varying emotions. I found that taking a walk with a friend really made a difference. The problems are still there and must be dealt with but a little music, looking at my beautiful tomatoes or hearing some funny story from my children helps a lot.

Taking that walk also brought to mind the devastation that the BVI suffered; however, it also helped me to reflect on what I need to do to get my house in order (literally). I've been gardening but home improvement is next!

Be inspired, be encouraged and look for the positive things!
