Check yourself before you wreck yourself and be wise and condomise!

HIV/AIDS - the not so new epidemic is on the rise in the Virgin Islands. The scary thing is that many people don't know their status. Do you know yours? Arrange to be tested. Even if you have to pay for the test, isn't it worth it?

I was tested earlier this year and am happy to say that I am NEGATIVE. Does this mean that I won't be tested again? You must be mad - of course I will be tested again. I encourage EVERYONE to get tested. It is better to know your status so that if you are positive, you can get the appropiate treatment.

Young men and young women - be wise and condomise! If you are not with one steady partner - stop and evaluate your lifestyle. Stay with one partner or just be abstinent.

Check yourself before you wreck yourself and be wise and condomise!

Life begets reciprocity!

Lord, Speak to me. Guide and take me forward to where you need me to be - not in size but in where I should as be a productive member of society who inspires others.

I wish to live a good life and to be prosperous in what I do and I extend these hopes and thoughts to all. That is what life is supposed to be about. It is a circle. My good deed may not return immediately back to me - but it will return in one form or the other. Life begets reciprocity!

We must be good to each other and must love one another. It's the only way that we can enjoy peace and exude happiness.

Police, police the police.

Do you remember the written test you passed in order to get your Driver's Licence? Do you remember the manual you studied to be able to take that test and pass it?

If you remember, then why are you not obeying the traffic laws? Can you cross over a SOLID WHITE LINE? Can you cross over a DOUBLE YELLOW LINE? How many car lengths are we supposed to drive behind each other? What is the difference between a STOP and a YIELD sign?

I am sure you remember these answers so we should all be better drivers. You may say that the police are there to police the roads. However, I say that we need to police our sevles and let the police handle these criminals who rob us by daylight.

Of course, the police do NOT carry guns on regular patrol so they also have to hide when the robberman passes by. Afterall, who REALLY wants to get shot. I don't.

I always say that if the people don't obey basic traffic laws, then of course they will write bad checks, steal and become nuisances. Spare the rod - spoil the child applies here. Let them get away with the simple crimes and for sure they will escalate into more serious crimes.

The police seem to be crying out for help - so who will help them? And I don't mean that we need to call the Crime Hotline - we NEED to show the Government of the day that it is imperative to update the laws so that the police can actual POLICE and not play pretend with our lives.

Liming Hard

RIBBON was sick. RIBBON was NOT stressed though. I'm just taking it easy as it comes. Everyone's having parties - Birthday, Kwanzaa, Baby Showers and even hard liming.

I keeping it cool this holiday - I'll try to attend all of the above - except the hard liming because I just don't do that anymore. I'm a parent. Hard liming consists of buying hard limes and squeeezing to season fish or to make 'limeade'. I'd be better off going rock climbing than the hard lime. I'd probably fall asleep standing up in the club. Wel....

Maybe I wouldn't, I can 'cut a rug' and 'boogie til the break of dawn' so I think I can lime hard.

Afterall, If I am up ay 3AM watching the Jefferson's re-runs, I obviously can lime hard.

You've just gotten your joke for the day! Laugh hard and lime hard.

My blog really helps me craft my writing skills. I love speaking with people and getting their feedback on their particular skill. I wonder what I would ask myself in an interview...

So why do you write poetry?
How do you manage with two small children?
You look like you enjoy yourself and love having fun - a law firm job - why?
How do you feel about the economic situation in the BVI, USVI and world at large?

People seem to react well with my interview questions - so I hope that I am doing a good job. I feel that it is important to showcase the talents of our people. I will always say that the biblical parable in relation to 'TALENTS' referred to our literal talents. When persons in the community are doing well - we need to highlight those accomplishments.

Why do we wait until someone dies to praise them or when they get into trouble to scold them?

I say mighty BIG UP to Shine-I, Maccabee, Church Boyz, Squad Up, CB4Lyfe as performers. Mad SHOUT OUT to the Callaloo Poets. To all the local businesses, J&D's Catering, KT Productions, Island Entertainment Production, VI Lander Films, Sweet Things, Mellow Moods and I can go on an on an on - MUCH LOVE.

Necessary Roughness

I am starting to become ROUGH. It's not nice, but it is NECESSARY ROUGHNESS. Do you want to be in an organization that has members who may consistently be late, lazy, inconsiderate, selfish, or some or all of the above? When I say I have had enough - it is already too much. The NO or the big ROUGH usually comes when it is at the boiling point.

I still love those guys, and I will still help them out but more so in JANUARY 2009 (God spare life). In January, I will deal with them again on a positive note. Right now - it's about ME. I have my FAMILY - they come first. It is not fair nor right for me to put them aside to suit the needs or may I say wants of group members. Some SEEM always so willing (I wonder) but are NEVER THERE at crunch time.

Call me crazy- it's a good thing - when YOU don't have to prodder. You watch and you hear people complain and my thought is ..such disdain...and discord. It's time for a new record. I mean the noun - not the verb nor the adjective - because for me to describe how I live - an adverb will be necessary. So if they don't hear from me - I am still here standing with my nappy hair but pretending to be a hare and ...dashing away ....

How Do You Tell Someone You Don't Like Them?

Is there really a nice way to tell someone that you don't like them?

'I'm not sure if I really like your habits, your style or your attitude. Hell, I don't even think I like you as a person.'

'You really upset me when you talk condescendingly to me. I wish you would talk to yourself that way.'

'You're not the best in conversations...you know. You tend to run on and on and on about ....nothing.'

'You're not the best to look at. I have to talk special pills just to keep my lunch down.'

I can't honestly say that I really don't like any particular person. A person may annoy me or may not be able to speak without being a snob - but I just usually say that the person is an idiot and move on. I may talk about it after for a couple days just to vent - but then I usually try to stay away from people like that.

You know - the people who think that they can do everything better than everyone else or the people who think that their filth does not smell like...filth. I am quite tired of people who act like that. So does that make ME a person that NO ONE likes. Like I care!

ZBVI did a great piece on its daily Almanac program today about LOVING YOURSELF and one particular point was that one can not try to change herself to please others or to fit in. You just have to be YOURSELF.

I am happy with me. If you do not like me - find a new friend.
