October 2026: No Publications, One Performance and a New Poem

Succulent from my garden

This October, I had no poems published and it's not because of the usual rejections. I just wasn't submitting as much as I used to. I only share voice statuses on WhatsApp when I have time off. I still write. While the production and promotion may have slowed, I still remain passionate about poetry and inspiring the world with my words.

Professionally, I have been taking on a new role since February this year and it expired at the end of this month. I can never list everything that I have learned but I will share that I better understand the need to connect with employees. As an HR professional, it's easy to get caught in the policy and paperwork. However, HR is about people. If you don't have the heart for HR, please consider making a career shift. I have made mistakes and extended a lot of apologies. I have tried to help and sometimes, caused more issues. However, with an organizational growth mindset and with people at heart, I think I can continue to make some impact. Just I say with my poetry, I want to inspire the world with my actions. Change starts with me.

Here are the few poetic highlights for October 2026.

October 2026 Poetry Super Highway Live Open Reading

I participated in the October 2026 Poetry Super Highway Live Open Reading on October 25, 2026. I shared When Help Arrives and then enjoyed the other performers. Do watch the entire session.

Poetry on YouTube

I post a new poetic video every Saturday under the caption, "It's Sharing Saturday!" I have been posting these videos since April 2025, sometimes sharing based on the going theme or time of the year. I'm often surprised at the feedback on some of the pieces. I try to choose poems that share a message or cause people to think. For example, when I shared I Don't Want Roses, I expected people to be negative so I put a disclaimer. However, the feedback was all positive.

New Poem

I woke up this morning thinking about the prefix 'dis' and how rappers create diss tracks.  This poem is the product of that idea.

Diss Track

when you think about it
a diss track is designed to dissect
the other person’s character and intellect
it’s almost a tool for disconnecting
the listeners’ love for the other individual
a deliberate attempt to disenfranchise
any attention to the person being dissed
a diabolical and intentional effort
to promote disassociation
and utter diminishment of any positive thoughts
it’s also a tool to distract the listener
and show the lyrical prowess
of a distinctively talented poet
who knows how to use words to
dissipate the opponent’s chances of response
and if there is heart to reply
it may just be disingenuous
the disser’s stance is heartless and heartfelt
simultaneously disrupting the prey’s standing
leaving disciples fallen
while definitively distancing himself
as the undisputed lyrical champion
